The Craft
A custom shower is the hardest test of a tile installer. It has to be beautiful the day it's finished and watertight for decades after — and the part that matters most is the part you'll never see. We build every shower as a complete system: substrate, slope, waterproofing membrane, and tile working together, documented and verified before anything is covered.
We work with architects, builders, and homeowners on curbless and barrier-free entries, steam showers, full-height slab and large-format walls, integrated benches and niches, and freestanding tub surrounds. Every layout is drawn and approved before installation begins, so grout lines land where they should — centered on the drain, aligned through the niche, wrapped cleanly around every corner.

- How long does a custom shower installation take?
- Most custom showers take two to four weeks from demolition to final walkthrough, depending on scope. Steam showers, slab walls, and curbless entries add time because the substrate and waterproofing stages can't be rushed — and those stages are exactly where quality is decided.
- What waterproofing systems do you use?
- We install full bonded-membrane systems (such as Schluter and Laticrete assemblies) rather than relying on surface sealers, and we flood-test pans before any tile is set. The waterproofing is the shower; the tile is the finish.
- Can you build a curbless (zero-entry) shower in a remodel?
- Usually, yes. It requires recessing the subfloor or building up the surrounding floor, so it's best decided early — ideally while framing or subfloor work is still open. We coordinate directly with your builder to plan it correctly.
- What does a high-end custom shower cost?
- Installation for a fully custom shower on the Central Coast typically starts in the low five figures and rises with slab material, steam systems, and structural work like curbless entries. After a consultation we provide a detailed written proposal, not a guess.
